Maryland Financial Aid

For more information on any of the below programs, please visit the Maryland Higher Education Commission.

EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE (EA) GRANT - An EA Grant is determined by student need. Your need for an EA Grant is determined using the following formula:

College Cost of Attendance
- EFC x Regional Cost Of Living Adjustment
- Certain State scholarship awards (if awarded)
- Federal Pell Grant (if eligible)
= Financial Need

The amount of an EA Grant equals 35 percent of the financial need. The minimum annual award amount is $400 and the maximum award is $2,700. Should you be offered and accept certain State scholarship awards, your EA Grant will be re-calculated. You may hold the EA Grant with all State awards except the Guaranteed Access Grant. The total dollar amount of all State awards may not exceed your cost of attendance as determined by your school’s financial aid office or $15,700, whichever is less. Funds may not be available to award all eligible students.

PART-TIME GRANT - Part-time, degree-seeking undergraduates and students who are simultaneously enrolled in a secondary school and an institution of higher education (dually enrolled students).
