FAFSA Renewal

Fill out your renewal FAFSA on Easyaid.

It is possible that you will be eligible for a FAFSA renewal application. If you are filling an application because you received financial aid in the previous school year, you will hear that you have to fill out a renewal application. A FAFSA application is required to be eligible for student aid, it does not have to be a renewal.

The only difference between the regular FAFSA and the renewal FAFSA is about 15 minutes of writing or typing. The renewal application will have most of the prior years data on it and the only things that you will have to update is the tax information and any personal information that has changed like your address or school you are attending.

You school decided if you will receive a paper renewal form or an electronic form. The federal government is trying to go as electronic as possible and urges the schools to request an electronic renewal FAFSA. This means that you will be send a reminder in the mail or in your email to do your renewal FAFSA online with your PIN.

Do not worry if you do not get renewal information in the mail or email. If there was something wrong with your application the previous year, like missing signature at one point or trouble verifying your citizenship, then a renewal application might not have been issued to you.

If you are not eligible to do a renewal application just fill out a regular application online or get a paper application at your school.
