Delaware Financial Aid

For more information on any of the below programs, please visit the Delaware Higher Education Commission.

Scholarship Incentive Program (ScIP) - Legal resident of Delaware
U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens
Demonstrate substantial financial need, as determined using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Enroll full-time in an undergraduate degree program at a regionally accredited institution in Delaware or Pennsylvania

 


Have a minimum cumulative, un-weighted grade point average of 2.5
Undergraduate and graduate students whose major is not available at a public college in Delaware will also be considered.
Award Amounts in 2003-04:
undergraduate $700 to $2,220, depending on GPA
graduate $1,000

Application & Deadlines:
Delaware residents will automatically be considered for ScIP for the 2004-05 academic year if their FAFSA is received by the federal processor by April 15, 2004. Students meeting the April 15 deadline will be notified of deadlines to submit college, major, and grade information.
ScIP awards will be made in July 2004 for the 2004-05 academic year, excluding summer terms.

Governor's Workforce Development Grant - All applicants must be 18 or older and residents of Delaware and U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens.

Employment requirements:

You must be employed by a company in Delaware. The company must contribute to the Blue Collar Training Fund Program. Employees of government agencies hospitals, and nonprofit agencies are not eligible.
Any part-time or temporary employment at an eligible company qualifies.
If employed full-time, you must work for an eligible small business with 100 or fewer employees.
Self-employment qualifies.
Enrollment requirements:

You must attend a participating school in Delaware on a part-time basis (enrollment in 11 credits or less).
If you have taken courses for credit during the last 12 months, you must submit a copy of your most recent transcripts or grade report. Academic progress is monitored and may impact eligibility.

Enrollment requirements:

Your individual income must not exceed $32,417 annually, or

Restrictions:

Full-time students are not eligible for a grant for interim winter sessions.
Grants are not available for summer sessions.
Students who receive any other scholarships or grants for their educational expenses are not eligible.
Renewal of grants is dependent on the availability of funds and the recipient's academic progress.
Graduate-level coursework does not qualify.
Award:
The maximum Governor's Workforce Development Grant for one academic year (July 1 through June 30) is $2,000 for part-time undergraduate study (11 or fewer credits) at in-state tuition rates.

Participating school: 10% tuition & fees
Employer and/or employee 25% tuition & fee

Deadline:
Applications are due by the end of the free drop/add period each term.
